In Sheffield it was noticed that the first contact of moon with upper edge, western side of sun, at 10.55 a.m. and the maximum obscuration about 6/10ths over sun's disc, took place at 12.6 p.m. Owing to the adverse conditions, mist and cloud, little was seen of the eclipse from the point where these photographs were taken, viz., south-west suburb, until after 12 o'clock.
It had previously been notified that the eclipse would be over at 1.17 p.m., the last slide confirmed this statement. - Exhibit type:
