- The British Orchids number 44 species. Thirty-five of these are represented in this series, and in addition nine varieties.
Some of the species, owing to size and habitat, are difficult to photograph in situ.
Malaxis and Listera cordata, e.g., are only two or three inches in height, and grow in bogs or wet localities.
One Irish species (Spiranthes Romanz offiana) occurs nowhere else in Europe, its next nearest habitat being N. America.
It is hoped that the missing species may be obtained later on to complete the series. - Exhibit type:
