Description:
to microscopic slides. The jelly to be examined is mixed with 5 per cent of potassium iodide and a drop squeezed between a ¾ inch cover glass and slip. The slide is then bathed for 12 to 24 hours in lead nitrate solution, 10 per cent. In place of the layer formation in test tubes (see 592) the corresponding ring formation takes place. The aggregates are much smaller than these produced in test tubes (see frame 595).
Raspberry Jelly, the whole of a ¾ inch preparation. x 10.
"Improved" Raspberry, same treatment. Adulterant probably gooseberry. x 10.

The whole exhibit represents methods of microscopic and micro-chemical analysis of colloids, jams in particular.
