- A rare breeding bird in these Islands. The photographs were taken on a remote loch in the Outer Hebrides. The bird is unable to walk well on land, and therefore always lays its eggs close to the water's edge, so that if disturbed it can quickly shuffle off the eggs, and take to the water, where it is a wonderful swimming and diver.
