- Description:
- On the tamarisk bush, on the lower branches of which this Spoonbill had her nest, were also the nests of another Spoonbill, two Night Herons, a Little Egret, and one or two Buff-backed Herons, while the surrounding bushes were crowded with two last-named species. During the day on which the photographs were taken the Spoonbill several times left her nest. When she returned, flying straight down on to the top branches of the bush, with noisy strokes of her large wings, the Little Egret, whose nest was just below, rose up and angrily attacked her large neighbour. Occasionally other Egrets joined in the fray, mobbing the unfortunate Spoonbill, with flapping wings and clamorous cries, which only ceased when she had blundered down to the sanctuary of her own nest.
