[1] (a)
Description:
The nest is made of earth, which is swallowed by the female, is passed through the alimentary canal and moulded into shape by the anal flaps. The eggs are deposited, two at once, from the ovipositors situated just beyond the second pair of legs. After a layer of the wall is made a layer of eggs is deposited, and these operations alternate as often as necessary. When the nest is finished it is smooth and dome-shaped, with a chimney surmounting the dome. Then the female covers it all over with pieces of earth, completely disguising it. The whole operation takes about 24 hours, and on account of the shyness of the animals is rarely observed.

All twice natural size.
