Description:
Approximate length of tail given for (1), (2) and (3) along external, convex, side. The dark spaces and streaks across the tail, a short distance outward from the head, on some of these photographs are due to the corner being partially obscured, during some of the exposure, by trees near the dome. Plate (2) comet's tail photographed after comet's head was below the horizon. Trees near the dome cut off inner part of the tail. In (5) note projection sunward and fine streamers outside of main tail.
