- Description:
- (1) A small piece of calcium chloride is placed in a solution of potassium silicate; (2) it speedily increases in size and may throw out a little cloud, (3) which assumes a fantastic form; (4) flattening has taken place and little processes may be seen appearing; (5) these rapidly grow and continue doing so till the surface of the liquid is reached (6) when they spread out; (7) two quite different shapes produced in this way, all these are natural size; (8) and (9) other forms much enlarged.
