Description:
The Spiders of the genus Heteropoda are tropical and sub-tropical and have a very wide distribution. One of them, H. Venatoria, found throughout Africa and East and West Indies, is often brought into this country alive in the banana crates. Very active creatures, live in neighbourhood of houses; the female carries the cocoon of eggs about with on the underside of her body, similar to the Lycosidœ, or Wolf spiders.
