Description:
A palm frequently found associated with mangrove vegetation, but which generally occurs somewhat further up the estuaries, where the water is merely brackish. It has a large creeping, often submerged stem. The leaves resemble those of the cocoanut palm, and are very large, frequently more than 30 ft. in length. Tr?ngganu, Malay Peninsula (1899).
