Description:
A number of Ilford Ordinary ¼-plates (purchased shortly before) were exposed in rapid succession under practically identical conditions on 28th June, 1894 – 4 seconds each with f/46 at 3 o’clock p.m., light remaining of quite constant brightness. One was developed a few days later (10th July, 1894), the others were carefully packed, film to film, well stored, and are being developed at intervals of four years, all the conditions of development being kept as nearly as possible exactly the same as in the case the first one developed. Pyro-ammonia of fixed proportions is being used at 67° temperature – the ammonia always tested by burette.
The negatives exhibited show the result obtained during twelve years.
These exhibits are in the base of the Lantern Stand in the North Room.
