Un-axial crystal photographed – Calc spar.
(a) Both crystals with analysing and polarising Nicols crossed.
(b) Both crystals with Nicols parallel.
(c) Bi-axial crystal with Nicols crossed and with the axes of the crystal at 45° to the plane of polarisation.
(d) Both crystals with Nicols crossed, and with a quarter were plate between the crystal and analysing Nicols crossed, and with a quarter wave plate between the polarising Nicol and crystal, also a quarter wave plate between the crystal and analysing Nicol. - Exhibit type:
