1905 Fiftieth Annual Exhibition of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain
Exhibit title:
The Wave Track of a Ship
Exhibitor:
Vaughan Cornish
Section:
Scientific and Technical Photography and its Application to Processes of Reproduction
Exhibit No.:
261
Description:
This photograph, being taken from a considerable height and distance, reveals the flatter thwart-ship, or transverse, waves, which are so difficult to observe from the ship or from the shore. Glassy smoothness of the water is also necessary to see them well, and this, on the Swiss lakes, it apt to be accompanied by haziness of the atmosphere, as in the present instance, increasing the difficulties of photography. Taken at Montreux, Switzerland.
