- Description:
- This photograph, being taken from a considerable height and distance, reveals the flatter thwart-ship, or transverse, waves, which are so difficult to observe from the ship or from the shore. Glassy smoothness of the water is also necessary to see them well, and this, on the Swiss lakes, it apt to be accompanied by haziness of the atmosphere, as in the present instance, increasing the difficulties of photography. Taken at Montreux, Switzerland.
